The Great Trumpet

The Lawgivers, Moses and Jesus, both declared the great commandment; (Deut 6:4-8 – Mark 12:29)

 

“Hear O Israel, The LORD thy God is one LORD”

 

It is a most extraordinary statement as it not only defines who God is, but who Israel are. First and foremost is a ‘law of faith’. That is, we are asked to ‘hear,’ and this separates it from the ten commandments God gave to Moses on mount Sinai.

 

That Israel are commanded to hear, does not speak only to an Israel descended from Abrahams’ flesh, but also to those gathered in the multitude of nations foreseen in those prophecies made over Ephraim.
